Description: The University of Utah Department of Radiology and Imaging Sciences is seeking a radiologist who is committed to promote, expand and innovate the value of acute care imaging. This individual is expected to work in the newly established section of Acute Care Imaging and develop new service lines that cover, but not limited to, after-hours, emergency department, teleradiology, and related opportunities as well as concurrent subspecialty practice through quality practice and clinical innovation. This is an exciting opportunity to define and shape the future of acute care imaging at the University of Utah. The candidate is expected to engage in teaching for residents and fellows and participate in departmental quality improvement and value initiatives. The academic appointment will be at a rank commensurate with training and experience. Depending on the candidate’s academic experience, a departmental leadership position will also be considered.

Qualifications: The candidate should be American Board of Radiology (or equivalent) certified or eligible, fellowship trained (or equivalent) in emergency radiology, abdominal imaging, chest imaging, MSK imaging, or neuroradiology and have a strong interest in promoting and growing acute care imaging in the academic radiology environment. Outstanding clinical, interpersonal, and communication skills are a prerequisite. Prior experience in clinical service innovation would be desired.

Facilities and Institution: The Department provides clinical services at the University Hospital, Clinical Neuroscience Center, University Orthopaedic Center, Huntsman Cancer Institute (an NCI-designated premier cancer center), VA Salt Lake City Health Care System, and multiple outpatient centers and community clinics with imaging resources along the Wasatch Front. The University of Utah Health is actively expanding telemedicine in neighboring states, and teleradiology opportunities are abound. The Department offers an outstanding residency program in Diagnostic Radiology and subspecialty fellowship programs. Extensive imaging resources, including multiple MRIs, dual-energy CTs, intraoperative MRI, and PET-CT scanners are available for clinical work and research. The Utah Center for Advanced Imaging Research (UCAIR) in the Department offers world-class research opportunities in advanced medical imaging. The University of Utah Health Sciences offer various leadership programs and training opportunities for faculty members. A leader in quality care, the University of Utah Hospital and Clinics were ranked #1 in Quality, Safety, and Accountability among all academic medical centers in 2016 and consistently ranked in the top 10 over the past seven years in a row.

Location: The University of Utah is located in Salt Lake City, in the foothill of the Wasatch Mountains at the western edge of the Rocky Mountains. Salt Lake City is a rapidly growing, multicultural city, listed at 7th Best Place for Business and Careers by Forbes Magazine in 2015. Salt Lake City Airport provides direct flights to numerous cities in the US as well as to European cities. Seven ski and summer international resorts, including Park City (home of the Sundance Film Festival), Deer Valley, Alta, and Snowbird (Oktoberfest), are located close to the campus.
