2001 Meeting Goals & Learning Objectives

The goal of this scientific meeting is to afford the attendee a wide-ranging educational experience reflecting the latest advances in emergency radiology, emphasizing insights into the diagnosis of acute diseases, the potentialities of new therapies, the mechanisms of injuries, and the utilization of digital technologies in contemporary practice.

SPECIFIC LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

To learn about contemporary diagnostic approaches to the imaging evaluation of acute chest pain.
To evaluate the multi-modality assessment of acute traumatic diseases of the lower GU tract in males.
To assess the capabilities and limitations of plain radiography, CT, US, and MR in the diagnostic work up of patients with extremity trauma.
To conceptualize the clinical, economic, political, and regulatory constraints in forming turf issues as they relate to ER imaging coverage.
To understand the pathophysiologic and radiologic findings (or lack thereof) inherent in the various etiologies of lower back pain.
To examine or analyze the CT manifestation of hollow viscus GI trauma.
To examine major ethical and malpractice issues consequent to ER radiology practice.

CME Accreditation & Designation Statements

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the American Society of Emergency Radiology (ASER). The Radiological Society of North America is accredited by the ACCME to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians and takes responsibility for the content, quality, and scientific integrity of this CME activity.

The Radiological Society of North America designates this continuing medical education activity for a maximum of 25.75 hours in Category 1 credit toward the AMA Physician's Recognition Award, which includes a total of 3 Category 1 CME credit hours for correctly identifying the Cases of the Day. Each physician should claim only those hours of credit that he/she actually spent in the educational activity.

This activity has been approved by the American College of Emergency Physicians for ACEP Category 1 credit.

ARRT recognizes AMA Category 1 credit as Category A credit.
